Search Engine Compatibility
Your website must be search engine friendly or compatible.
This is the first step to achieving top ranking in search engines. A website
must be search engine friendly or compatible. Often websites are built
using technologies that make them difficult or impossible for search engines
to "spider" (Search engines use automated software robots to
spider, or crawl the page links within web sites and interpret what the
pages are about). If a search engine can’t spider or crawl your
website, it won’t add it to its index, meaning your website won’t
appear in search results.
It should be noted that the design aspects of a website with great user
functionality often conflict with requirements conducive to achieving
good rankings in search engines. The requirements of the two distinctive
audiences (end-users, i.e. people) and search engine spiders (robots)
are very different.
A search engine spider is an automated web browser that must interpret
your page's HTML code, just like a regular browser does. However, spiders
are very unsophisticated web browsers, incompatible with many modern web
technologies - such as frames, JavaScript and Flash, to name a few. These
incompatible technologies are commonly referred to as "traps".
The methodology here is to try and meet the requirements of both audiences.
You need a website that appeals to the primary audience (people) and yet
is search engine friendly.
Whilst there is no doubt the most important audience to satisfy is people,
the need for making the site search engine compatible should not be overlooked.
More than 80% of Internet users rely on search engines and directories
as their preferred method for locating websites.
At Sprightly Media, we will thoroughly analyze your website
and determine if there are any search engine incompatibility issues and
suggest appropriate solutions to increase search engine positioning of your website.
